Due diligence |
| |
No matter what, never give out your personal information to any individual who "claims" to be with some company or organization. The best thing to do is to get their information and do 5 minutes of research by calling the company & verify that they do work there and that they are supposed to be asking for your information. At the end of the day if the person is legitimate they won't mind you following up. |

Arm outside window ATM |
| |
When you drive up at an ATM, do not leave your arm hanging out the window waiting for the next on screen prompt on the machine. Each time you execute something, bring your arm back inside the window. This will reduce the chance for an attacker to break your arm or grab you effectively and hold you. With you in the car and your arm outside the window, you are in a dangerous situation if someone attacks. Most likely you would break your arm or possibly lose it depending on what happened next. Don’t run the risk, just keep the arm inside. |

Know where you are running |
| |
Always look to get to where other people are if you find you are running away from someone under any circumstance. So many people just run but don’t think of where to run. Usually a public shopping store or center, law enforcement, a neighbors house etc. Go where you can be helped and not just to get away. |

If approached |
| |
If you are being approached and the person doesn’t stop after you ask them to, make a scene if you must and run to the nearest store or group of people. If someone has good intentions and you ask them to stop coming close to you, they will. If that person has bad intentions, for sure they will ignore your commands and keep approaching you. Be loud and assertive and take charge before it is too late. |

If you feel uneasy |
| |
If you feel uneasy about someone, don't let them isolate you. The wose thing you could do is be in a situation where you are alone or remote from others with someone who makes you feel uncomfortable. Make sure to get to a public place or place with other people that will help you should you need it. |

Hand on gear shift at ATM |
| |
When at a drive up ATM, if you are going to put your car in park, keep your right hand on the gear shifter so that if someone tries to attack you, you can throw it in gear and drive off. Don't worry about your transaction because you can call the cops and then the bank. |

Doors locked at ATM |
| |
When at a drive up ATM, always keep your doors locked. If someone unexpectedly tries to get in to your car, they can't and you can drive off. Don't worry about your card, you can call the cops and then the bank. This way if you need to take off, you can and at the worst, the attacker has your debit card and can only get out $500.00 at the most. Not a bad price to keep your life. |

Be ready at ATM |
| |
When at a drive up ATM, make sure you show up prepared. Have your checks signed, deposit slips ready and your transactions planned out. Being prepared will expedite your time at the bank and reduce the time bad guys will have to attack. Do not sit there with your head down and begin to do your banking, this can be dangerous as your awareness levels are down and you are a sitting duck. |

Elevator vs Stairs |
| |
Always take the elevator instead of the stairs if you have a choice. The stairwell is a very secluded, dark and tight place to be caught in should someone you don’t feel comfortable with enter as well. It is also a very dangerous place to be because in a state of panic or hurriedness, you can easily trip and injure yourself severely with no way of accessing help. Obviously in case of a fire or other situations pertaining to the building, please follow all building guidelines and regulations. This tip is strictly for the normal situation when you have the choice. |
