This week...   Stand in Base with Kick
Standing in base and using a kick is a very safe and effective way to get to your feet when you have an aggressor standing over you. It is important that you keep your eyes on your aggressor the entire time you are executing the technique. In order to help you bring your leg under your body you must swing your hips back so that your chest is pointing towards the floor. Remember that when you kick you turn your foot slightly sideways because you have more surface area to strike with and always aim for your aggressor’s knee or shin, do not aim higher than that as you will most likely not reach. This kick gives you a split second to get to your feet so you can defend yourself and run.
